2008 Furnace HS Update |
Bushwackers MC
The initial charter members hale from many different parts of
the country. As teenagers, and through our early twenties we all had one
thing in common, we were all motorcycle riders and wanted to reconnect
with the sport again once our children reached the age that they could
ride with us. Today we're eighteen families and 63 riders strong. We found
each other from our kids on the same sports teams and being neighbors and
friends. We started riding together and going places as a group in '98.
The decision to become an organized club came about in January of '03 and
by June we were an official AMA and District 36 sanctioned club. The club riders vary greatly in age and riding ability. Some
have a bent for racing in hare scrambles, motocross and enduros, while
others are very happy just being a part of our many weekend outings. There
are some outings that we have made into annual events because we love the
riding area so much. However, we are constantly looking for new places to
explore.
In January of '03 we were asked to be the flagmen for the
AMA/San Francisco, Supercross - wow what an experience that was. The
Bushwackers MC is now the official flagmen for this event each year. We
created an annual event called the Furnace Hare Scrambles at Prairie City
OHV, geared to Women and Youth "only", which in many ways is
family oriented, like our club. The Bushwackers MC history is growing each and every year with
new and creative ideas to better educate and promote the sport of off-road
riding. We thank the AMA, District 36 and most of all our race sponsors
who helped put us on the map. This is just one big adventure. |
